Dating methods are the main standing ground of the millions-of-years story. We are told these methods are proven and correct. We are suppose to just believe this because the scientist says so. However, what is the real story? Here are just a few examples of what we see when we KNOW the date of the rock and then test it (using the K-Ar method)

So, what we see when dating rocks of known age is that the dating methods fail. Yet we are told that when dating rocks of unknown age, the methods work. How can that be? When we have a means to verify the test results to see if they work, they don’t. But when we have no means to verify the results, they do?
From this logic, we can make up any test! Used car salesmen will love this way of doing things! Every used car will have under 10,000 miles on it. ‘Oh, I know the odometer says 100,000 but odometers only work under 10,000…’
But is it just the formation of Rocks that fail dating methods? Not at all!
Mortar from Oxford Castle in England was dated by radiocarbon as 7370 years old, yet the castle itself was only built 785 years ago (E.A. von Fange, "Time Upside Down," quoted in Creation Research Society Quarterly, November 1974, p. 18).
Freshly killed seals have been dated at 1300 years. This means they are supposed to have died over a millennium ago. Other seals which have been dead no longer than 30 years were dated at 4600 years (*W. Dort, "Mummified Seals of Southern Victoria Land," in Antarctic Journal of the U.S., June 1971, p. 210).
Wood was cut out of living, growing trees. Although only a few days dead, it was dated as having existed 10,000 years ago (*B. Huber, "Recording Gaseous Exchange Under Field Conditions," in Physiology of Forest Trees, ed. by *K.V. Thimann, 1958).
Various living mollusks (such as snails) had their shells dated, and were found to have "died" as much as 2300 years ago (*M. Keith and *G. Anderson, "Radiocarbon Dating: Fictitious Results with Mollusk Shells," in Science, 141, 1963, p. 634).
the lava dome of Mount St. Helens [produced in 1980] has been radiometrically dated at 2.8 million years [H.M. Morris, ‘Radiometric Dating,’ Back to Genesis, 1997."—
The volcanic island of Rangitoto in New Zealand, potassium-argon dated the lava flows as 145,000 to 465,000 years old, but the journal of the Geochemical Society noted that ‘the radiocarbon, geological and botanical evidence unequivocally shows that it was active and was probably built during the last 1000 years.’ In fact, wood buried underneath its lava has been carbon-dated as less than 350 years old [*Ian McDougall, *H.A. Polach, and *J.J. Stipp, ‘Excess Radiogenic Argon in Young Subaerial Basalts from Auckland Volcanic Field, New Zealand,’ Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, December 1969, pp. 1485, 1499].
Sunset Crater, an Arizona Volcano, is known from tree-ring dating to be about 1000 years old. But potassium-argon put it at over 200,000 years [*G.B. Dalrymple, ‘40 Ar/36 Ar Analyses of Historical Lava Flows,’ Earth and Planetary Science Letters 6, 1969, pp. 47-55].
Sample datings from a single uranium deposit in the Colorado Caribou Mine yielded an error spread of 700 million years.
There are many more examples such as a mammoth whose front end gives an age millions of years different than its back end, fossil fish giving birth where the mother and baby date millions of years different and more. But suffice it to say, the dates produced are not nearly as believable as we are lead to believe.
However, lets pretend the dates produced were believable. Lets look at a couple examples. In Colorado, the rocks of the Unikaret Plateau have been dated. The rocks on the top have been dated using the Rb-Sr isochron model to 1340 million years. The rocks BELOW these, using the SAME model, date to1070 million years. In other words, the rocks on top, formed nearly 300 million years before the rocks they sit on.
However, my favorite example is the meteorite Allende. This meteorite is said to have impacted the earth as the earth was forming and therefore is used to date the earth. Here’s how it dates:
Sr-87/Sr-86 = 4.48 billion years
Pb-207/Pb-206 = 4.5 billion years
Pb-207/U-235 = 5.57 billion years
Pb-206/U-238 = 8.82 billion years
Pb-208/T-232 = 10.4 billion years
The difference between the low and high findings are greater larger than the supposed age of the earth! Basically, there is a 6 billion year difference. Considering this, the low number would actually be 4.48 Billion years +/- 5.92 billion years which means, according to the figures, the earth may not be created for another 440 million years!
Ok, enough with C-14 and isotopic dating. Are there other scientific observations that deny millions-of-years? Not dealing directly with dating, the atoms and isotopes still deny the accepted time scale.
We are told that the earth started as a molten blob. After millions of years of rain, the surface cooled into rock, including granites. This cooling would have taken many millions of years. We know that as the rocks cool, some of the elements break down into other elements (the basis for all dating methods). When this happens, energy is radiated off. Some of this energy does so rapidly. For instance radon-222 in 3.82 days, bismuth-214 in 29.7 minutes and polonium-218 in 3.05 minutes. Now comes logic.
According to the scientific method, you look at what is observed and make a prediction based on the observation. So, if granite takes millions of years to cool as the theory requires, you would expect to find no trace of an atom that disappears in a few minutes. The next step in the Scientific method is to test this. If your results are confirmed you can move on. If they are shown wrong, the theory fails and must be discarded. So what is found? Granite is full of “radio halos” from these atoms. This means they had to cool in minutes, not millions of years.
Another side aspect of this is in carbon 14 itself. The basic premise of how C-14 dating works is while something is alive (or forming in the case of things like rock) it is constantly absorbing C-14 which slowly decays into C-12. In the atmosphere, we can measure the amounts of both. Eventually these amounts will reach equilibrium. To date, it has not yet happened. The problem is that at the absolute most, this should take fewer than 15,000 years. If the earth were millions of years old, this would have happened long ago.
But are there methods not having anything to do with atoms and isotopes? Plenty!
The earth has a magnetic field surrounding it. The strength of this field has been measured since 1829. Every measurement shows this field is deteriorating year by year. Now, if we apply the very same principals of uniformitarian (all things happen now as they always have) that science uses on other things, we can figure this backwards. What do we find? If we go backwards 100 thousand years, the magnetic field would be equal to a neutron star! It would actually only take about 20,000 years to make the earth uninhabitable.
Now, science has proposed theoretical “reversals” to try to rectify this problem. The catch is, none of these have ever been observed and the evidence they use to support it is also seen elsewhere in nature with different explanations. Also, the ‘reversals’ seen in horizontal rock layers that are used as evidence, are also seen vertically in rock. A phenomena that could not happen during the proposed ‘reversal’ which shows the explanation to be elsewhere.
Helium also gives us another insight into the age of the earth. Helium in our atmosphere is accumulating at a rapid but constant rate. It is also leaving our atmosphere at a constant, but much slower rate. Calculating the amount of Helium in the atmosphere, IF the earth started with no Helium, the existing amount would have accumulated in less than 2 million years.
Another problem is the amount of sodium in the oceans. Observing today’s rate at which salt is added to and is dispersed from the oceans, IF the oceans started with zero sodium, the current volume allows at most, 32 million years.
Part of the addition of salt in the oceans is from the erosion of the continents. Rivers and streams are eroding away our continents and dumping their contents into the oceans at a measured rate of approximately 27.5 billion tons per year. The volume of the continents measured above sea level sea level is 383. At the present rate of erosion, all the continents would have been reduced to sea level in 14 million years.
Another problem is the sediment from this erosion is carried and dumped into the ocean at the rate of approximately 27.5 billion tons per year. The measured amount of sediment in the oceans is 410 million billion tons. Simple division shows that IF the original amount of sediment in the ocean was zero, this would have taken only 15 million years to collect (far less with a global flood).
The sediments that are dumped out of rivers form what are called ‘deltas’. The Mississippi River, for instance, dumps 300 million cubic yards of sediment into the Gulf of Mexico each year. Yet according to the measured size of the Mississippi Delta, without a global flood, it would only take 4000 years to form this Delta.
Another area that is a problem is geology. We are told fossils are formed when the object is slowly buried and given millions of years to fossilize. However, we find many oddities that negate this assumption. Things like fossilized ripple marks left by tides and fossilized rain drops which are far to delicate to have last more than a few hours. Fossilized plants which would have decayed if not buried quickly. Fossilized small animals and fish some in the process of eating and a few even in the process of giving birth! Not to mention, when fish die, they don’t sink, they float. Even if the fish wasn’t eaten by predators or scavengers or torn apart by currents and waves, it would have begun to decay before reaching the sea floor to begin its long, slow burial.
Another huge problem are called “polystrate trees”. These are fossilized trees found buried in rock layers. As we are told, each rock layer can take thousands of years to form. The problem occurs because in sites around the world, we find these trees standing upright through what should be thousands upon thousands of years of rock layers. Many of these show no signs of roots (others show short roots as opposed to a full root system). Simply put, no dead tree could possibly stand for the thousands of years the popular theory requires. It would fall over and rot.
Another place geology confounds modern concepts is in “sediment Deformation”. When we look at places where the rock layers are formed, they are mostly horizontal as the new layers are added onto the old. However, there are a number of places such, as the Tapeats in the Grand Canyon, geologists find areas where these layers are highly disturbed; bent in 45-90 degree angles and even formed into semi circular shapes.
Geologists will claim this can be done over a long period of pressure twisting the layers. This is very true. However, when this happens, you get pressure cracks where the hardened rock has given way to the bend. Yet at places like the Tapeats and Split Mountain, CA. No such cracks are present. These formations would have had to formed while they were still wet as would be expected in a global flood.
Then there are evidences outside of the earth. Our sun is shrinking at about 0.1% a century, or 5 feet per hour. Historical records of an eclipse 400 years ago show this rate has remained constant. [“Sun Is Shrinking” Physics Today, Sept 1979] Using this rate, 50,000 years ago the sun would have been large enough to boil the earths oceans. In far less time than that, life would have been impossible.
Scientists theorize that the sun goes through times of growth and shrinkage. Yet this is just a story they make up to explain what they cannot. There has been no proof of such an expansion while shrinkage rates remain constant.
Not only is the sun shrinking, but the moon is getting further away. It is slipping away at the rate of 1 ½ inches a year. Though this rate is decreasing now, it indicates that in the past it would have been faster. Calculating backwards within 20-30,000 years ago, the earth and moon would have been too close and the tidal forces would have destroyed the earth.
Again, the scientists have an ‘explanation’. They will claim that this slowing rate indicates that eventually the moon will stop spiraling away and start moving closer for a while. However again, there is no evidence for this except for the belief that it had to or else the world couldn’t be as old as they claim. The more sensible reasoning for this decrease is simply that the further away the moon gets, the longer the orbit takes (race cars on the inside lane do not have as far to go as those in the outside lane).
Another problem with the moon are the isotopes found there. Lunar missions found both Uranium 236 and Thorium .230 in lunar rocks. In less than 50,000 years, these short-lived isotopes would have decayed into lead and not be found anywhere on the moon.
Not only is the sun shrinking and the moon getting further from the earth, but the earth itself is slowing down. In fact, at the rate its slowing, calculating that rate backwards, in the early days of the earth 5 billion years ago the spin would have been so fast it would have stretched the earth out like a saucer! During the time life was evolving the spin would have been so fast that the life would have been tossed right off the planet!
Comets circle the solar system. Their captivating tails evidence of the matter they loose each moment. Every instant, they are shrinking. However, if the universe truly were billions of years old, no comets would remain. They would have burned out long before life appeared on this planet.
Scientists also have an explanation for this. They call it the Oort Cloud, where comets are constantly being formed. The problem is, there is no such cloud. It has never been observed and no evidence of its existence has ever been found except, that scientists know it “has” to exist or there would be no comets. The Oort Cloud is pure science fiction.
Comets are not the only things we shouldn’t fine floating around space. Another thing we do find are tiny particles, smaller than 100,000th of a centimeter, orbiting the sun. Why is this a problem? The sun puts out a ‘solar wind’. If the solar System were billions of years old, these particles would have long ago been blown out of our solar system.
Coming back to Earth, many problems still exist. For instance sometimes when drilling for oil, when found the oil will rocket up in a geyser. This is because the oil under the surface is under great pressure. However this pressure can only be maintained for a few thousand years until it is dissipated.
Niagara falls is eroding at the rate of 7 feet a year. At this rate, the gorge it now boasts would have taken between 5-10,000 years to erode. It it had millions of years, the Falls would be gone by now.
Coral, once thought to take thousands of years to grow, has been proven to form quite rapidly. Many institutes now sink ships and planes that they can form coral growths for aquatic life. At the observed rate, the oldest coral formations would have taken no more than 3500 years to form.
Stalactites, also said to take millions of years to form are now shown to form quickly as well. There is a formation in the Lincoln Memorial, in Ft. Pickens in Pensacola and a massive one in Thermopolis, Wyoming standing 3 stories tall and roughly the size of a garage! All of these have taken 100 years or less to form. No they do not take thousands or millions of years to form. Why are we still told this? Because it sounds really neat in the cave tours.
We can even go to population statistics to show the earth could be nowhere as old as claimed. Based on current statistics compared to historical census records, the current population of the earth could be reached in 3200 years. However, if we apply the statistics to the half million years science claims we have been here, we have less than 1% of the expected population!
There are many more of these examples. Yet scientists throw out all of these not because they are incorrect, but because they “know” they are “wrong” because they have to be in order for evolution to work. The only proof for millions of years are faulty dating methods based on unknowable, un-testable assumptions that cannot be made but are excepted by faith after throwing out any readings that don’t agree with the hoped for result.
The evidence for a young earth far outreaches the evidence for a young earth and stretches to every part of science and history. The few items that points to an ancient Earth is either based on assumptions that are based on faith, not on science, have been proven wrong or have an equally viable alternative explanation. A person can believe in millions/billions of years, but the vast majority of actual evidence points to time frames much shorter.

Simple division shows that IF the original amount of sediment in the ocean was zero, this would have taken only 15 million years to collect (far less with a global flood).
The sediments that are dumped out of rivers form what are called ‘deltas’. The Mississippi River, for instance, dumps 300 million cubic yards of sediment into the Gulf of Mexico each year. Yet according to the measured size of the Mississippi Delta, without a global flood, it would only take 4000 years to form this Delta.
Another area that is a problem is geology. We are told fossils are formed when the object is slowly buried and given millions of years to fossilize. However, we find many oddities that negate this assumption. Things like fossilized ripple marks left by tides and fossilized rain drops which are far to delicate to have last more than a few hours. Fossilized plants which would have decayed if not buried quickly. Fossilized small animals and fish some in the process of eating and a few even in the process of giving birth! Not to mention, when fish die, they don’t sink, they float. Even if the fish wasn’t eaten by predators or scavengers or torn apart by currents and waves, it would have begun to decay before reaching the sea floor to begin its long, slow burial.
Another huge problem are called “polystrate trees”. These are fossilized trees found buried in rock layers. As we are told, each rock layer can take thousands of years to form. The problem occurs because in sites around the world, we find these trees standing upright through what should be thousands upon thousands of years of rock layers. Many of these show no signs of roots (others show short roots as opposed to a full root system). Simply put, no dead tree could possibly stand for the thousands of years the popular theory requires. It would fall over and rot.
Another place geology confounds modern concepts is in “sediment Deformation”. When we look at places where the rock layers are formed, they are mostly horizontal as the new layers are added onto the old. However, there are a number of places such, as the Tapeats in the Grand Canyon, geologists find areas where these layers are highly disturbed; bent in 45-90 degree angles and even formed into semi circular shapes.
Geologists will claim this can be done over a long period of pressure twisting the layers. This is very true. However, when this happens, you get pressure cracks where the hardened rock has given way to the bend. Yet at places like the Tapeats and Split Mountain, CA. No such cracks are present. These formations would have had to formed while they were still wet as would be expected in a global flood.
Then there are evidences outside of the earth. Our sun is shrinking at about 0.1% a century, or 5 feet per hour. Historical records of an eclipse 400 years ago show this rate has remained constant. [“Sun Is Shrinking” Physics Today, Sept 1979] Using this rate, 50,000 years ago the sun would have been large enough to boil the earths oceans. In far less time than that, life would have been impossible.
Scientists theorize that the sun goes through times of growth and shrinkage. Yet this is just a story they make up to explain what they cannot. There has been no proof of such an expansion while shrinkage rates remain constant.
Not only is the sun shrinking, but the moon is getting further away. It is slipping away at the rate of 1 ½ inches a year. Though this rate is decreasing now, it indicates that in the past it would have been faster. Calculating backwards within 20-30,000 years ago, the earth and moon would have been too close and the tidal forces would have destroyed the earth.
Again, the scientists have an ‘explanation’. They will claim that this slowing rate indicates that eventually the moon will stop spiraling away and start moving closer for a while. However again, there is no evidence for this except for the belief that it had to or else the world couldn’t be as old as they claim. The more sensible reasoning for this decrease is simply that the further away the moon gets, the longer the orbit takes (race cars on the inside lane do not have as far to go as those in the outside lane).
Another problem with the moon are the isotopes found there. Lunar missions found both Uranium 236 and Thorium .230 in lunar rocks. In less than 50,000 years, these short-lived isotopes would have decayed into lead and not be found anywhere on the moon.
Not only is the sun shrinking and the moon getting further from the earth, but the earth itself is slowing down. In fact, at the rate its slowing, calculating that rate backwards, in the early days of the earth 5 billion years ago the spin would have been so fast it would have stretched the earth out like a saucer! During the time life was evolving the spin would have been so fast that the life would have been tossed right off the planet!
Comets circle the solar system. Their captivating tails evidence of the matter they loose each moment. Every instant, they are shrinking. However, if the universe truly were billions of years old, no comets would remain. They would have burned out long before life appeared on this planet.
Scientists also have an explanation for this. They call it the Oort Cloud, where comets are constantly being formed. The problem is, there is no such cloud. It has never been observed and no evidence of its existence has ever been found except, that scientists know it “has” to exist or there would be no comets. The Oort Cloud is pure science fiction.
Comets are not the only things we shouldn’t fine floating around space. Another thing we do find are tiny particles, smaller than 100,000th of a centimeter, orbiting the sun. Why is this a problem? The sun puts out a ‘solar wind’. If the solar System were billions of years old, these particles would have long ago been blown out of our solar system.
Coming back to Earth, many problems still exist. For instance sometimes when drilling for oil, when found the oil will rocket up in a geyser. This is because the oil under the surface is under great pressure. However this pressure can only be maintained for a few thousand years until it is dissipated.
Niagara falls is eroding at the rate of 7 feet a year. At this rate, the gorge it now boasts would have taken between 5-10,000 years to erode. It it had millions of years, the Falls would be gone by now.
Coral, once thought to take thousands of years to grow, has been proven to form quite rapidly. Many institutes now sink ships and planes that they can form coral growths for aquatic life. At the observed rate, the oldest coral formations would have taken no more than 3500 years to form.
Stalactites, also said to take millions of years to form are now shown to form quickly as well. There is a formation in the Lincoln Memorial, in Ft. Pickens in Pensacola and a massive one in Thermopolis, Wyoming standing 3 stories tall and roughly the size of a garage! All of these have taken 100 years or less to form. No they do not take thousands or millions of years to form. Why are we still told this? Because it sounds really neat in the cave tours.
We can even go to population statistics to show the earth could be nowhere as old as claimed. Based on current statistics compared to historical census records, the current population of the earth could be reached in 3200 years. However, if we apply the statistics to the half million years science claims we have been here, we have less than 1% of the expected population!
There are many more of these examples. Yet scientists throw out all of these not because they are incorrect, but because they “know” they are “wrong” because they have to be in order for evolution to work. The only proof for millions of years are faulty dating methods based on unknowable, un-testable assumptions that cannot be made but are excepted by faith after throwing out any readings that don’t agree with the hoped for result.
The evidence for a young earth far outreaches the evidence for a young earth and stretches to every part of science and history. The few items that points to an ancient Earth is either based on assumptions that are based on faith, not on science, have been proven wrong or have an equally viable alternative explanation. A person can believe in millions/billions of years, but the vast majority of actual evidence points to time frames much shorter.
