Over 15,000 carved stones have been found in burial tombs in Peru. Many portray ordinary, daily life in ancient times. However, some are quite extraordinary and portray complex surgeries, astronomy and dinosaurs! The question is, how did ancient man know so much about these animals including details like round scales and dermal spikes which are only very recently being discovered, if they died millions of years before man?
Some will try to claim that these are all fake. It is true that the discoverer of these stones, Dr. Cabrera, did recant and say that he carved all 15,000 with a hacksaw blade; ignoring the fact that no one person could carve 15,000 of these with a hacksaw blade.
Years later Dr. Cabrera explained that the admission came after his home was raided by Peruvian police and he was dragged off to an interrogation room where he was threatened with life imprisonment in the third world prisons of Peru, leaving his family and children fatherless and income-less unless he “admitted” to making these. After the Peruvian government realized the tourism benefits of these finds, he was no longer threatened and could tell the truth.
Dr. Cabrera does maintain that he did create a handful of these for collectors. However, he has also shown precisely how to tell his from the authentic stones. These methods have been confirmed by visual means as well as under high power microscopes. They are easily distinguishable.
Some skeptics will insist that since he created copies for others to display, this alone means all 15,000 of these stones, despite scientifically proven means, must be considered fake. However, this is the same thing every museum does. They do not leave irreplaceable fossils out for all to touch. The ones on display are cast copies of the originals which are locked away in a climate controlled vault for protection. These are no more or less copies than the few copied Ica stones, are no more or less distinguishable from the originals and do not call into question the authenticity of the originals any more than the copied Ica stones.
Why then are the Ica stones so hotly debated by some? The answer is simple. Again, how did ancient man know so much about these animals including details like round scales and dermal spikes which are only very recently being discovered, if they died millions of years before man?
